    A special board meeting was held at 5:00 p.m. at the Harlem Senior Center! A discussion was held on the closure of the Little Rockies Retirement Center and the Harlem Senior Center, and Congregate and Home Delivered Meals. It was unanimously voted that the doors will be locked until further notice. This does NOT mean residents are quarantined! They are free to come and go as they please. Family members are welcome to visit but need to arrange entrance with their resident. Meals will be prepared as usual but will be on a pickup only basis. If...

    Another week has come and gone so quickly. Here we are already in February of 2020. The warmer weather has been a great treat. A lot of the ice and snow disappeared. Very thankful all the volunteers who have cooked on Saturday and Sunday. It’s been a great money maker for the Center. Our cook ended up sick for a few days. So, I cooked a couple days.     Well this month has flown by just like last year. Rose Noel is once again going to be making soup on Saturday’s. The soup will be served from 11:30 to 1:00 p.m. in the Dining Room. If anyone else would like to have a turn Rose say’s she wouldn’t mind. With all the ice on the street you can come and walk in the halls to get some exercise! 14 times around is a mile. The Harlem Senior Center board members are Dale Klungland, President; Sally O’Leary, Vice President; Kay Schmitt, Secretary; and members Linda Murch and Rose Noel as the other directors.     Third hat I wear is the Director for the Harlem Area Senior Citizen’s Center. I was hired by the board of the Senior Center. The Senior Center rents from Northern Montana Hospital the dining room area of the building. The dining room is where the Congregate Meals are held. The Dining room has been and can be rented out for a small fee. The use of the entire dining room and kitchen area rents out for $75.00. Use of the dining room or activity room is $10.00.     econd hat I wear is the Manager of the Little Rockies Retirement Center. The building is owned by Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, MT. There are 16 apartments, the Sweet Medical Center, the Harlem Senior Center as well as the Congregate and Home Delivered meals. There are 10 (1) bedrooms and 6 (2) bedroom apartments.     All the MAST Intake forms (white pages) (every 3 years) and the Nutrition Risk forms (blue pages) (every year) that were distributed during the last 2 weeks are all due back as soon as possible. Both forms are required to be completed by the Agency on Aging for the state database of meal clients at each senior center. Returned data from these 2 forms help in providing funding from the state to the Harlem Senior Center for our meal program.     If you are not one of our “regular” meal clients (meaning you eat, or get meals delivered, at least 3 or more days a week) you must call in BEFORE 10:00 am to let us know that you will be wanting a meal, whether in the Center or delivered. Likewise, if you are one of the “regulars” and you know you are not going to be able to eat, please let us know that also. Preparing way too much food is almost as bad as running out.
