Holidays are a happy time where families gather and have a big meal to give thanks. But, that isn't the case for all families. Some find themselves either alone or have the family but can't make ends meet to afford a big meal. That's where the food pantry comes in. There are approximately 1.5 million people in the United States that are diagnosed with Diabetes each year. In last week's Journal you might have seen a photo of students at the Turner School searching the school playground for ladybugs. It was found that excessive ladybugs can mean either a sign of good luck, or a sign of a weather change. Well, it was 100% right about the weather change. Turner Students remember 9/11 events during flag ceremony: Although many of the students of Turner School were too young or not born yet, to remember the tragic events of September 11, the entire school met at the flag pole to pay their respects to those fallen victim to terrorists. Turner High School saw seven High School graduates and four Junior High Graduates in 2019. Graduation was held May 18, 2019 in the Turner gymnasium. Turner School observed Earth Day this past Thursday. Students and Staff, k-12, took to the streets to pick up trash and haul it to the dumpsters. Afterwards they were rewarded for their efforts for a few minutes of play time and being "a kid!" The Junior and High School students teamed up with the younger students for some good mentoring and fun. The Turner community gathered at the school gymnasium for a Community Pep Rally this past week to send both boys and girls teams off to tournament. The top four students will represent Turner School at the County Spelling Bee in Chinook on Tuesday, February 12th. Homecoming 2019 was presented this Saturday at the Turner Tornado gymnasium with visiting teams, The Chinook Sugarbeeters meeting up. The Turner School held its local Geography Bee this past week in the school gymnasium. Grades 4-8 competed for nearly two hours to come to the top three winners. Nearly 10,000 schools across the United States will compete in the 2019 National Geographic GeoBee for a chance to win college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic GeoBee Champion.
