    On Tuesday, December 12, the Chinook Chapter of the FFA travelled to Winifred for Winter District Competition. Members competed in Meats Evaluation, Veterinary Science, Agronomy, and Ag.     On December 21, the personnel at Chinook School District (CSD) paused to recognize the service of one of their instructors who will be moving to a new position when the school's semester ends on January 11. Kendall Harwood will be sworn in as the interim Blaine County Superintendent of Schools on January 9 and will officially begin his duties on January 16.     When the Chinook Chapter of the FFA competed at the 12th Annual Montana FFA Ag Expo on November 16-18, the group posted some strong performances.     Just in time for homecoming and the 2023 Sugarbeet Festival, a hay sculpture turned up on September 27 just west of Alfalfa Road. Two stacked round bales feature the Sugarbeeter mascot head, black, orange, and white paint, and the message, "Go Beeters" on the base. Some twigs jut from the upper most bale to resemble a beet top.     This past Sunday, September 24, Havre Trails partnered with Hays-Lodgepole High School science teacher Rod Benson, who offered a hike to Hole in the Wall and Mission Ridge in Mission Canyon just outside of Hays, Montana.     The Chinook Rod and Gun Club received official notification on August 31 that they had received a grant award from the Fish Wildlife and Parks (FWP) in a program to improve safety at gun and archery ranges. The local Club was among twelve awardee organizations. Awarded through the Montana Shooting Range Grant Program, the $16,605 grant is a 50/50 split.
