Currently underway in Harlem is a two year, five-million-dollar project to upgrade the waste water treatment plant and transition from a river discharge system to a pivot irrigation system. This process began in 2009, but with two legislation sessions with no resulting funding the project was not able to be completed then. In 2013, the City applied once again, receiving a TSEP grant for $625,000 and after applying to USDA Rural Development they received the remaining funds for the project....
The Harlem Country Christmas is just around the corner! It will take place on Wednesday December 14. There will be many activities encompassed in this event, including a kid's and adult's coloring contest, a wreath decorating contest, and business open houses. An always popular event in Chinook is the Community Thanksgiving Dinner. As usual, it was held at the Senior Center and there was a great turn out. Serving started promptly at 12 p.m., but some early birds enjoyed visiting as they awaited the delicious meal. A steady stream of people flowed through the door right away. The funeral home has been open and located in Havre, MT since 1906 and has seen various owners throughout its lifetime. The Harlem City Council held its regular monthly meeting on October 11, 2016, and discussed the waste water treatment plant plan and a number of resolutions to deal with the project. The proposed sale of land belonging to the Belden estate, the layout of the lots of land purchased by the Island Mountain Development Group, and first aid/CPR training for employees was also discussed.
