    Kodi Brown|Oct 12, 2016

“Heavenly Father, help us remember that the jerk who cut us off in traffic last night is a single parent who worked nine hours that day and is rushing home to cook dinner, help with homework, do the laundry and spend a few precious moments with their children. Help us to remember the disinterested young person who can’t make change correctly is a worried 19-year-old college student, balancing their apprehension over final exams with the fear of not getting their student loans for next semester. Help us remember that the old couple walking ann...

  • Luke 6:31: 'The Golden Rule'

    Kodi Brown|Oct 5, 2016

It all starts with Luke 6:31, also known as the Golden Rule, “Do to others as you would have them do to you” One of the greatest things about small communities is the simple fact everybody is willing to lend a helping hand to whomever deserves it. If you need it and deserve it, you’ll get it. The person to help you may not even know you personally. People will help just because they might want help someday in return, others just help because they can and they expect nothing in return. Few weeks’ back a stranger, to me, stopped and assiste...

  • Nurse Week

    Kodi Brown|May 4, 2016

Nurses Week begins this year on May 8th and ends on May 14th. May 8th was designated as National Student Nurse Day, which is celebrated annually now. National School Nurse day is the Wednesday that falls during Nurse Week. In 1953 Dorothy Sutherland of the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare sent a proposal to the president, Eisenhower, to proclaim “Nurse Day” in October of the following year. The proclamation however was never made. A bill for a National Nurse week was introduced to Congress in 1955 but nothing became of it. The...

  • John 3:16; Everybody sees it but what does it mean?

    Kodi Brown|Jan 13, 2016

John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” We see and hear John 3:16 frequently at sports events, in songs and sometimes in regular conversation. Not everybody who hears John 3:16 knows what it is about, the words, or maybe even what it is. An important pastor down in Stanford, MT in a little beautiful church taught me that every scripture has different meaning to different people. It has it’s basis of what it means but from there the meani...

  • Making resolutions

    Kodi Brown|Jan 6, 2016

Most make a list of resolutions at the beginning of the year. They make promises to themselves to change different things in their life. Most resolutions are made to try and better their lives. A lot of people don’t know the origin or how making resolutions started so I did some research and found some different information. Maybe the new information will give you guidance and a new view on how you make your goals. The Babylonians were the first to make resolutions history says. They made their resolutions in mid March and resolutions were m...

  • Christmas memories and struggles...

    Kodi Brown|Dec 23, 2015

My most memorable Christmas was with somebody who isn’t here today. Spending time with my Grandpa was always special but holidays meant something more to me even at a young age. The first year he wasn’t there was different. I kept expecting to see him but that wasn’t going to happen. Every year I wish things could be different so I could have just one more day with him. Sadly it doesn’t work like that and we need to make the best of what we have. Some people don’t get a lot of joy and it’s a struggle for them just to function in public. Thi...

  • A rancher's Christmas

    Kodi Brown|Dec 16, 2015

Most people now days get to have Christmas off. They sleep in or get up early to open presents. Breakfast is made, everybody sits and eats together and stays in the warm house with their family. If some are lucky, they will get to spend a little time outside sledding. Most of the time when you are in town you don’t get the opportunity to do such activities. Ranchers get to wake up before the sun to go take care of the animals that provide them with what they own. Without the animals, ranchers wouldn’t have the open skies above them, and the...

  • What Christmas means to you

    Kodi Brown|Dec 9, 2015

While looking through old papers reading the different Christmas stories, I stumbled across one which I could agree with and relate to. Mrs. Lillian Weaver, of Davenport, Idaho wrote in December of 1965 her version of Christmas. I pulled just a few things she stated and gave my opinion. In her article she wrote, “Christmas is the thrill of an old fashioned sleigh ride on a white stretching road glistening with “snow” diamonds on a moonlight night.” When I was eight years old we had a team and a sleigh. Dad hooked up our gelding, Blaze, and too...
