The Chinook Sugarbeeter, Harlem Wildcat and Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbird Cross Country teams were in Havre this past Saturday. All three area schools had plenty of athletes run. Chinook led the way with 14 runners, nine boys and five girls. The Wildcats had 12 runners with 11 boys including seven freshmen and one girl in the field. The Chinook Sugarbeeters concluded Homecoming week by welcoming the Fort Benton Longhorns to town this past Friday night. The Northern C matchup between these two rivals kept everyone entertained start to finish. The Harlem Wildcats made the most of their scheduled bye week by taking the opportunity to turn the week into a Homecoming with The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds. The Thunderbirds are playing a JV schedule this year and hosted the Harlem JV Monday afternoon in their Homecoming game. Since the Thunderbirds are playing a JV schedule, Friday night’s game would not count toward the teams season record. Chinook has played four five set matches, and after falling in the first two they have certainly found a way to finish strong winning their last two. The Lady Cats were back in action this past Thursday in Malta taking on the Malta M-ettes. On Friday the girls hosted the Conrad Cowgirls of the District 1B. The Lady Cats fought hard in Malta and showed a ton of improvement. The M-ettes played well in set number one and defeated the Lady Cats 25-19. The Harlem Wildcat football team was back in action this Friday taking on the North Stars in Rocky Boy. The Wildcats had their way start to finish handing Rocky Boy a resounding 82-22 thumping to pick up their first win of the season and improving their record to 1-2 on the season. With just one meet in Fort Benton (July 15/16) before the Divisional Swim Meet is held in Chinook, July 22-23, teams are fine tuning their strokes to be ready for the post season. The Chinook Sugarbeeters are bringing back their Football Camp for the first time since 2019. The Day Camp will be held August 1-3, 8:30-11:00 am daily. The ‘Beeter Football Team will be hosting the ‘Fundamental Skills Camp’ for athletes Grade 4-8. The three-day camp instructors will be the ‘Beeter Coaching Staff as well as players. Ginger Hansen recently hosted the 7th annual Chinook Golf Course Fundraiser Auction and Dinner. Each year the annual fundraiser has proven to be the most successful fundraiser for the golf course.
