The Harlem and Hays/Lodge Pole Cross Country teams were in Poplar this past Saturday taking part in the Indians Invitational which featured some of the top runners in the eastern half of Montana and North Dakota as well. The Annual Sugarbeet Festival took place this past Saturday in downtown Chinook. The day began with the Jesse James Memorial Color Run and concluded with a street dance on Main Street. This years festival was held in conjunction with the 7th Annual Chinook Rod & Gun Club Gun show, the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home 50th Anniversary and the Blaine County Cruisers Car Show. Montana has been near the top of the list of states with the highest suicide rates in the Nation, but an increase of 38% from 1999-2016 has moved the state to the top of the list. According to the Center for Disease Control, Montana had a suicide rate of 25.9/100,000 in 2016, nearly double the National average of 13.5/100,000.
