When Glen Koster made his way into Chinook he experienced the highs and lows of walking across America. First he came across a huge Rattlesnake along the road, the first one he had ever saw, which left him at a standstill. The Chinook Lions and Harlem Swim Teams were back in the pool this weekend taking part in the Lewistown Invitational. The Lions placed third overall in the team standings collecting 623 points over the two day meet while the Harlem swimmers finished fifth with 404 points. The Chinook Golf Course had a fantastic day on Saturday, July 6th as it was home to the 2019 Chinook High School All-Class Reunion Golf Tournament. 15 teams and 60 golfers hit the links in what turned out to be a fabulous fundraiser for the course. June was a busy month for the football program at Hays/Lodge Pole High School. New Assistant Football Coach Jerry Racine has been busy putting on camps and taking are youth to camps outside the area since coming to Blaine County. Coach Racine was most recently the Head Coach in Browning. While there he helped the Indians end a 34 game losing streak, going 4-1 in the tough Northwest Class A division and hosting a first round playoff game. The Blaine County Fair is something everyone looks forward to each summer. The dates of the fair change from year to year, but the excitment of going remains the same. In the 80's the fair took place at the end of August, and provided a great reprieve from the hassles of the first days of school. The ninth annual Blaine County Cruise has a full slate of events planned for the weekend as activities get underway Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. with registration taking place at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. The Chinook Lions hosted their own Invitational this past weekend. The Lions, along with swimmers from the Harlem Swim team fared very well in the pool over the course of the two day event. Harlem swimmers took home three Individual High Point trophies while the Lions had two. Both teams did very well in the relays. The Chinook Golf Course and Country Club is holding its 3rd Annual Community Dinner and Live Auction on Saturday, June 8th at the Blaine County Fairground Commercial Building. Everyone is welcome to attend as it features something for everyone and is not just for those who play golf but to anyone who enjoys community outings. The spring sports season is in full swing, and teams have had the time to find a rhythm and begin fine tuning events for the post season in just a few weeks.
