The 36th Annual Hi-Line Invitational Tournament took place this past weekend at the Armory Gymnasium on the campus of MSU-Northern in Havre. The Light and Skylight basketball teams co- hosted the event featuring many of the top high school girls and boys basketball players from across the state of Montana. The Blaine County Local Advisory Council For Mental Health has put together a fun night of activities centered around family fun while focusing on Mental Health and a number of other issues affecting our communities. The weather has not been very cooperative to the start of the high school spring sports teams start to the season. 3 year old Lane T. Allen of Harlem and 19 year old Michael J. Dess of Havre have been charged with a number of misdemeanor and felony charges in connection with the poaching of Deer and Elk in Blaine and Hill Counties. The Hays/Lodge Pole Archery team was in Great Falls recently in preparation for the State Archery tournament later this month in Helena. Competing at Paris Gibson High School were 39 boys and 28 girls representing teams from Paris Gibson, Great Falls High (ROTC), Heart Butte, and Hays-Lodge Pole. Registration is now open for producers interested in learning about the Montana Farm to School Program. The program is designed to instruct farmers, ranchers, processors, along with other types of local food businesses in an effort to train them on various methods of distributing their products to school as well as child nutrition programs. The near year long journey by the Friends of the Pool & Park Foundation to create a Recreation District in Chinook to fund repairs the Ensign Sweet Memorial Park and the City of Chinook Pool have finally come to a successful end. The Chinook School Board addressed the Hartland Colony School Contract at its most recent meeting on Monday, February 13, 2023. Mr. Hofman is recommending we amend the Contract with Hartland (paragraph 3) to read that the District may close the school when enrollment is under 10 or the District may issue an assessment for every student the colony is short from 10.
