High School football throughout the state was impacted greatly by Covid-19. Cancellations, postponements and even lost seasons were prevalent. Teams in Blaine County all had to deal with a multitude of requirements just for the possibility to play. The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds were hit the hardest, having to cancel their season after just one contest. Post season Volleyball awards were announced following the conclusion of the state tournaments on Saturday. Four Chinook Sugarbeeters and one Harlem Lady Cat were recognized for their efforts this season. On Friday afternoon, October 23, the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home received notice of their first positive Covid-19 test. The situation grew expeditiously with numbers of positive tests rising exponentially. Well, the fall sports schedule is behind us. The Harlem Wildcat Volleyball team and the Chinook Volleyball and Football teams were able to complete their seasons. We all are fully aware that the 2020 Presidential Election took place on Tuesday. Governor, Senate and Ballot Initiatives were also voted on. For several election cycles now, the Montana Secretary of States (SOS) Office has conducted a Youth Vote on the topics being voted on in each Cycle. The Harlem Lady Cat Volleyball team conclude a very difficult and challenging season Thursday night in Malta at the District 2B Tournament. In a five set battle with the Poplar Indians, the Lady Cats were defeated 3-2. The Lady Cats battled back from a nine point deficit in the opening set to earn a 29-27 win.
