The Fun Day held this past weekend in Turner turned out to be a huge success! The day began with a FLY IN and Lions pancake breakfast. There were only about 6 airplanes that flew in, but they joined up with others who began registering their cars, trucks, bikes, and tractors at the annual car show. Heather Jorgenson, an English teacher at Harlem High School, has been selected to participate in four traveling seminars for teachers this summer. The first, offered by the Freedoms Foundation, takes place from July 2 – July 7. Participants will explore sites across the New England Colonies related to the American Revolution, including Fort Saratoga, Fort Ticonderoga, Concord, and Boston. The Juniors of Turner High School completed the 2022 Prom with nothing but great memories. A theme of a beach party decorated the school gymnasium with lei's, palm trees, shells, and flowers. The students in Kindergarten - Second grade enjoyed a day away from school to go to the Malta Museums. They toured the Phillips County Museum in the morning. Then after a yummy stop at the Dairy Queen for lunch, they toured the Dinosaur Museum. A Paleontologist was on hand to show the children around the museum. Turner School graduated four little students from the Kindergarten Class this past week. They came onto the stage with their green graduation caps. They wrote stories earlier in the week and read their illustrated stories to the crowd. They sang some favorite songs and rhymes before they were presented their diplomas. Earlier this year, the Turner school was awarded a grant for an after school program. Included in this program are numerous adults that have committed to teach a class or do a project. The MCT recently came to Turner to make students in all grades shine like an actor or actress. The production was entitled, "Red Riding Hood." It was adapted by Michael McGill. The Local Spelling Bee was held this past week at the Turner Public School. From this Bee, two contestants will move forward to the County Bee to be held at a later date. Grades 4-8 students were competing, however, new rules for the county bee state that the student must be in grade 5-8. The Junior High teams of Turner School came to a close this past weekend as they competed in the 9C Junior High Tournament in Gildford. Both teams had a good season and have no reason to hang their heads. The boys were coached by Dalton Cornell while the girls were coached by Darci Ammen.
