    Sweet Medical Center hosted a health fair last Wednesday, December 7th at the Chinook Eagles. They organized the event to showcase different resources here in the community and to provide a few services as well.     In this month's meeting of the Cancer Support Group in Chinook, Sheree Leo came to speak about 'An Update on Mental Health'. This group meets every third Tuesday of the month to showcase the assets and support available in town for persons with cancer and those caring for people with cancer.   • North Central Montana Relay for Life Committee holds first meeting

    The North Central Montana Relay for Life committee held its first meeting this past week. They started making plans for the various fundraisers they will hold before the Relay (tentatively scheduled in June). They have set a goal for this year at $30,000 for the combined Hill and Blaine County effort. Last year, Blaine County raised about $12,000 and Hill County raised about $14,400 in monetary donations (not including in kind donations).     The Chinook Eagles Club hosted a fundraising dinner for the Blaine County Food Pantry this past Friday, October 14th. They served hamburger steak with mushrooms, onions and gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans and rolls. They were able to raise a large amount of money for the food pantry, which will help go towards purchasing food as well as coordinating other outreach initiatives.     The 2017 American Cancer Society Relay for Life kicks off Friday, October 21st at 6pm at the Chinook Eagles Club. The Eagles are hosting a Spaghetti dinner to raise money for the Relay. Individuals and teams can also sign up at the dinner for the 2017 Relay for Life. This year, Blaine and Hill counties will be combining their efforts in the fight against cancer.   • Chinook Volunteer Fire Department serves community at Prevention Week Pancake feed

    The Chinook Volunteer Fire Department (CVFD) hosted a pancake feed this past Sunday, October 16, 2016. This annual community appreciation event has been going on for nearly 10 years. They cooked pancakes, eggs, and sausage for over 150 local residents. The lunch was provided for free but donations were gladly accepted.
