The nursing home industry is in trouble, especially rural nursing homes that have managed to not succumb to the struggles of the last 3 ½ years. A recent inspection found advanced spalling, cracking, and deterioration at the concrete beam ends in Span 1. The Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation has recently received notification that the Chinook Pool Rehabilitation project was not selected for grant funding from the Montana Land Water Conservation Fund program. The Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation have been in contact with the MLWCF’s Grant Manager who informed the Board that there was “nothing that they could have done any better” when submitting their application. State and local health officials are reporting the first West Nile Virus (WNV) detection of the year in mosquitoes sampled from Blaine County. No humans or horses have tested positive for WNV yet this season. Infected mosquitoes can transmit WNV when they bite, and increased risk of WNV transmission to humans and horses is expected to continue through October – or as long as mosquitoes are active in the state.
