On Tuesday, December 12, the Chinook Chapter of the FFA travelled to Winifred for Winter District Competition. Members competed in Meats Evaluation, Veterinary Science, Agronomy, and Ag. Mechanics. Edith Bilger, who lived most of her adult life in western Blaine County, became a Montana Centenarian on December 20, 2023. It's an "exclusive club" of folks who have lived 100 years or more. Family members from far and near and friends from all over the area joined Edith at the Chinook Senior Center to celebrate her 100th birthday. The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds closed out the 2023 portion of their Varsity girls’ and boys’ basketball schedule. The girls played well in the first half before falling to the Box Elder Bears 58-38 on Wednesday, December 20 with the Thunderbirds standing at 2-3. The Turner Tornadoes hosted the North Country Mavericks in a non-conference tilt on Tuesday, December 19th to close out the 2023 season. The young Tornado team struggled mightily against one of the top Class C teams. The Mavericks stormed out to a 29-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.
