HELENA, MT - The Governor’s Office of Community Service, Montana Campus Compact, and Reach Higher Montana welcome applicants for the 2017 Youth Serve Montana Scholarships. The deadline to apply is on January 31, 2017. Louis John "Jack" Sattleen, 87, of Missoula, MT, passed away on Christmas Day, 2016, with his daughter, Carla and son-in-law, Steve, by his side. Jack was born March 26th, 1929 in Havre, MT to Jonas and Olive Sattleen. He attended grade school near Havre and graduated from Chinook High School in 1947. The Nimble Thimble Quilt Guild had their Christmas Party at the Hogeland Lutheran Church on Saturday. Sandy Beck and Loretta Beck were among those who attended. The Turner Tornadoes are off to there best start in school history after picking up a resounding 73-44 win over the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds and there first every win over the Chinook Sugarbeeters 41-33 to improve to 6-1 on the season. The Harlem Wildcats also picked up a huge win, topping Chinook 42-33 for there first over the 'Beeters since they were conference foes in the class B ranks. The Chinook Sugarbeeters and Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds got 2017 off to an electric start as the two teams combine to go 5-0 in their first week of action since the Holiday break. The Thunderbirds won all three of their contest, easily dispatching the Chester-Joplin-Inverness Hawks 87-28 to begin the week. The Chinook Sugarbeeter and Harlem Wildcat wrestling teams began 2017 on the mat at the Cut Bank Invitational. The season is in the heart of its schedule with just a few weeks until the Divisional tournament in Shelby February 4. The state tournament is in Billings, February 10-11.
