Having written some stories about boys completing their Eagle Scout rank, I knew about merit badges but had no idea how merit badges connected to college.   • Chinook High School To Host State B/C Speech & Drama Tournament

    Chinook High School is hosting the State B-C Speech & Drama tournament January 27-28. The two day tournament will be held on the campus of MSU-Northern. Over 350 student competitors from as many as 60 schools are expected to attend. Competition rounds will be held Friday afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m., and all day Saturday.     Local children will take to the stage this Saturday for the annual Missoula Children's Theatre's (MCT) production. This year's play is "Rapunzel." It will be the 38th appearance of the traveling production for audiences in Chinook.     When I was a boy there were lots of Oriental people in Havre. I am reminded of this because the Chinese New Year is January 28. Many Chinese and Japanese had come here to work on the railroad and when the railroad was finished they liked the country and stayed or maybe some could not afford to go anywhere else.     The number of donors presenting and the number of deferrals are presently unknown. However, it is known that a total of 47 units were collected on a goal of 50. There were no first time donors this time around. Ray Reid reached 15 gallons with this last donation and we applaud his dedication to giving blood through the years.     The Chinook wrestlers this week took advantage of being able to watch the next level of wrestling. They attended the MSU Northern match against Dickinson State, where they watched Northern win the match 29 to 11.
