The Mountain River Indian Relay team, from Fort Belknap reservation, earned a place in the 2016 All Nations Indian Relay Championship held last September at MetroPark in Billings. It had been a few years since Fort Belknap fielded a relay team, but there is a rich tradition of racing and winning from the reservation. • Girl Scout Daisies named 'special' Sheriff's Deputies

    Steve Edwards|Feb 1, 2017

Reporter's note: I was invited to a meeting of a group of Girl Scout Daisies (kindergarten and first graders) who were learning about respecting authority. Our daughter was a Brownie, about 35 years ago, but a lot of what I remembered about Girl Scouts and their organization has changed. For example, there's no longer just "a Girl Scout." There are Girl Scout Daisies, Girl Scout Brownies...all the way up to Girl Scout Ambassadors. Girl Scouting has a whole new system of describing their members...

  • Bear Paw Meanderings

    Robert Lucke|Feb 1, 2017

I am always finding a lobster on sale and sticking it in the freezer. That way when I want to I can have what I call a triple surf dinner. It is a hot lobster with drawn butter, lobster salad and a shrimp cocktail with homemade cocktail sauce. Please note that when I say lobster I mean lobster tail. It is very easy to steam a lobster. Get it thawed out and steam it a minute for each ounce it weighs. Take the shell off when the lobster is steamed and serve with a vat of good hot butter. For a salad, it is just as easy. Thaw the lobster; take...

After moving to Chinook we went on one of the adult DC trips led by Doug Hayes and also made new acquaintances and had a great time. Some locals told me the Havre hospital used to do tours and the...

  • My Answer

    Dr. Billy Graham|Feb 1, 2017

Q: I know you’ve said that God sometimes answers our prayers with a “no”—but if that’s the case, then why bother to pray? A: Yes, it’s true that God sometimes says “no” to our prayers—and with good reason, because He alone knows what is best for us. Just as a loving parent sometimes says “no” to their child’s demands, so our loving God sometimes says “no” to our demands. But sometimes God also says “yes” to our prayers—and that’s certainly one reason why we ought to keep on praying! But we don’t pray only to get things from God. Not only would...
