Last week's fair was the 50th anniversary of the Fort Belknap Mid Winter Fair. The annual winter event was first staged in 1967. About 25 locals came to hear the first program of a four-part series being jointly presented by the Harlem Library and the Little Rockies Senior Center in Harlem. It’s almost time for the 69th annual Montana Seed Show pie baking contest. This years pie entries will be accepted on Friday, March 9th, from 8:30-9:30 a.m. in the Harlem High School gym. There is a youth division and adult division again this year. A few things to remember when entering, all pies are to be made from scratch, with a double crust and berry or fruit filling. Milton Guy "Scoot" Healy, 49 years old, passed away on Monday January 29th, 2018 at his 3-Mile ranch located on the Fort Belknap Reservation. Milton fought a courageous battle with cancer and never once complained. Wake services were Thursday, February 1, 2018 starting at 3 P.M. at his home, moving at about 5 P.M. to the Red Whip Center at Fort Belknap. Mary Bell Harvey Jeffers "Toots" passed away peacefully in her home on February 1, 2018. Mary was born on November 13, 1931 in Harlem, MT to Nellie and Samuel Harvey. The Chinook Sugarbeeters and Harlem Wildcats will be in Billings this Friday and Saturday at the All-Class State Wrestling Tournament following a solid effort at the Northern B/C Divisional in Malta. The Sugarbeeters finished fifth in the team standings with 86 points and qualified six wrestlers for the state tournament. The Chinook Masonic Lodge #50 has purchased seven Kindles for the Meadowlark Elementary. All the students from each of the grades K-6, will have an opportunity to earn one of the Kindles by completing the reading requirements set up by Mrs. Tammy Edwards the school librarian.
