    Riley Werk an eighth grader at Hays/Lodge Pole School had already proven she was a great speller by winning the Blaine County Spelling Bee as a seventh grader. Last Tuesday Werk spelled 'Timely' in the final round of the 2018 Blaine County Spelling Bee to successfully defend her title. Werk will now head to Billings to compete in the Montana State Bee on March 17.   • Local EMS providers learn new protocols and refine existing skills

    Thirty local Emergency Medical Service (EMS) providers spent a recent Sunday learning new protocols and skills, practicing and refining existing skills and participating in a Megacode simulation. The class members represented Blaine County ambulance crews from Chinook, Harlem and Turner/Hogeland and Hill County.     The Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation's (DNRC) Northeast Land Office and volunteer fire departments in Blaine County recently sponsored a training program to help non-trained volunteers who work with fire departments during wildfires.     The Blaine County Fair Foundation was notified last week that it was awarded a $22,000 Montana Tourism grant to be used toward construction of a proposed indoor event center at the county fairgrounds. Each year the Montana Office of Tourism awards about $750,000 through a competitive process "to develop and enhance tourism and recreation." This year 27 grant applications were funded.     This group of students from Turner High held a Valentine Dinner to raise money to go to DC in the coming future. They, along with their adviser, Mrs. Heather Jorgenson and their parents, made a Valentine meal with all the fixings for the public.     Pearl was born to Frank and Talia (Tillie Trottier) Azure on October 17, 1934 in Ft. Belknap, Montana. She departed this world on February 6th at Northern Montana Hospital and went to a family reunion on the other side.
