The American Red Cross invites the community to join its lifesaving mission by giving blood this March in celebration of Red Cross Month. Our upcoming blood drive on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at Wallner Hall has a collection goal of 48. Think about all of the lives we can touch by signing up to donate. Blood is a vital resource, one which cannot be manufactured. Only people can supply blood, so patients depend on donors like you and me. The Red Cross must collect more than 13,000 blood donations every day for patients in need. When you give...
Despite a frigid evening, a decent sized group gathered at the Harlem Senior Center to hear the second Montana Conversation program from Humanities Montana. The presenter, Mark Matthews, did a program called Swinging through American History. It's a short course on the history of dance from the colonial period to modern times. He used videos of vintage dances to illustrate how famous dances developed. Matthews has done the history of American dance presentations for about four years. A friend...

Spring is almost in sight, and with it comes the Montana Seed Show in Harlem. Show dates are March 8-10 at Harlem High School. The Bread Show entry date is Friday, March 9, between 8 and 9:30 A.M. at the school’s big gym. Categories (youth and adult) are: white bread, 100% whole wheat bread, machine white bread and machine 50% combination whole wheat bread. Prizes are awarded in each category. The girls Tornado basketball team was sent off to the Divisional tournament with a community Pep Rally this past Tuesday evening at the Turner Old Gym. A taco dinner was served following a pep rally involving school students, parents, community members, and coaches. Everybody had a part in this event and it was obvious that the community supports their students 100% as the gym was full. This is the first time Turner has had a girls team advance to Divisional since the 1996-1997 season. Everyone...
We’ve had a week of cold, below Zero temps with wind to blow the snow around and into drifts making roads impassable. Monday being a holiday, and then a couple of days with no mail. It made for a long week. Busses didn’t run a few of those days and if you wanted to get your kids to school, you broke trail and got them there. It’s tough for the snow plows to work when the snow blows the roads shut right behind them. We really appreciate our snow plow drivers and we thank them for all they do. Colleen and Steve Hickel and Landon attended the Divisional Tournament in Great Falls this past weekend. Darel and Linda Hauge attended Montana Rural Water Conference in Great Falls. Phyllis Bergh Rasmussen of Harlem died February 22, 2018, at the Sweet Home in Chinook, following a period of declining health. She was born on January 22, 1929 in Sheyenne, North Dakota, to Mae Berglund and Elmer Bergh. Phyllis grew up in Harlem, Montana. She survived rheumatic fever, missing a year of school, which she made up so she could graduate with her class mates in 1946. She was known for playing the saxophone in school and in local dance bands. Phyllis attended the University of...
Rose Louise Stuart, 90 years young, passed away on Friday, February 23rd at Benefis Peace Hospice Great Falls. She had fallen in her home on February 6th late evening, broke her right femur, and survived the Mercy Flight, operation and initial recovery, but her body was too frail. On February 16th she entered Peace Hospice to a beautiful room, smiled, ordered oatmeal and rested, but soon began her final journey to the God she loved and served all her life.
