A new, unintentional hazard for local golfers has been added to the Chinook Golf Course northwest of town. A wind event north of Chinook in early February equated to a Category I Hurricane with 75 mile per hour winds. Blaine County Library is still following CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID. We are currently under a mask mandate implemented by the Blaine County Commissioners after the Governor lifted the statewide mandate. The library's Pandemic/Epidemic Policy gives the library board the authority to continue requiring masks, handwashing and social distancing until the CDC no longer recommends those measures to prevent the spread of COVID, and the library will be following that policy. Merle Anthony "Tony" Weeres passed away at Frances Mahon Deaconess Hospital in Glasgow on February 4, 2021, following a bout with pneumonia. Tony was born in Havre, Montana, on December 9, 1953, to Merle and Patricia Weeres. His early years were spent in Harlem, and the last several years have been in Glasgow. The Harlem girls and boys basketball seasons concluded this past weekend at the Northern B Divisional basketball tournaments in Cut Bank and Wolf Point. The Wildcats went 3-1 to finish the season with a 12-5 overall record while earning a third place finish at the Northern B in Cut Bank. The Chinook Sugarbeeters and Harlem Wildcats each qualified three wrestlers for the Montana State B/C Wrestling Tournament in Shelby this past weekend. On Monday, March 1, the Montana Actors’ Theater (MAT) Youth Program held auditions at the Creative Leisure Building for roles in three, one-act youth productions.
