Reporter's note: Dick Edgington, a longtime resident of Chinook, died in the summer of 2016. In 2004, after retiring from the Blaine County Road Department, Edgington bought a set of plans to build a RagWing 4 single engine plane. Chinook's My Neighbor in Need (MNIN), a help group that connect people with needs and donors who can fill those needs, is joining with Miscellany, a downtown thrift shop in Chinook, to host the next quarterly Business After Hours. The Chinook Area Chamber sponsored its first Business After Hours in April, 2014. The Harlem Public Library is seeking an original logo that represents the library and its service area of East Blaine County. High School students from Harlem, Hays-Lodge Pole, Turner and home schools are invited to submit their logo design. The logo must be all original artwork in black and white on 81/2” X 11” paper. A scholarship is again offered by the North Central Montana Cattle Women and the North Central Montana Stock Growers. This annual scholarship is available to high school seniors and college students completing their sophomore year. Interest from a memorial fund honoring the memory of deceased members is contributed to by the Cattle Women. Considering the weather we have been experiencing all winter, the turnout for the blood drive on Tuesday, March 6th was just under goal. We had 47 donors present with 41 productive units. We had one first time donor, Cristen Friede. Richard Cronk reached 8 gallons and Dave Jensen reached 2 gallons. The canteen was hosted by the American Lutheran Church and those helping out in the kitchen were Wenda Oehmke, Terry Grabofsky, Midlred Dawson, Sharon LaPlante and Beth Petrie. February at Harlem Elementary means tons of reading fun. To kick off "I Love To Read" month activities, the students began a reading frenzy, each striving to reach their Accelerated Reader goals. Every AR test the students passed meant they earned a segment (circle) with their name and the title of each book.
