  • Chinook High students 'blown away' by Chinook Winds Quintet

    Chinook Junior and Senior High recently hosted a performance by the Chinook Winds Quintet, a Great Falls-based musical group. The five members of the quintet are all principal players with the Great Falls Symphony, meaning they are five of the nine salaried musicians who make up the core, first chair players of the symphony. Chinook Schools board members approved tax levies for the 2016-2017 school year, approved contract offers to classified employees and contract offers for extra-curricular activities positions.     Dawn Lovisa, FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) joined the Sweet Medical Center on April 19. Lovisa will be working ‘locem tenens,’ meaning on a temporary basis until the end of October.     Chinook residents have seen a new face at the service counter in city hall. Cheryl Alm is the new Assistant City Clerk. She began her duties on March 21 when she replaced Carol Floren. Floren became the City Clerk, in February, replacing Gabe Harry who took a position at the city's water treatment plant.     Every year in mid-April, Chinook students participate in the District 7 Music Festival along with many other High-Line Schools. This years Festival was held in Shelby on April 15th and 16th. At this event students are judged by experts in each field and given a rating. The ratings from highest to lowest are: Superior, Excellent, Good, Fair, and Poor.
