A determined and organized group of canvassers made quick work of the annual canvass of Chinook for the Community Chest annual door-to-door solicitation. The non-profit Community Chest was created in the late 1970's to "consolidate solicitation and receive and disburse funds through one organization." Members of the North Central Montana Shrine Club are preparing to receive their usual shipment of three tons of Vidalia onions. The annual sale of the delectable Georgia onion, according to Shrine officials, is their best fundraiser of the year. Chinook, MT After a long illness, Philip Paul Kessel passed away at home, surrounded by loved ones on April 25th, 2016. He was born in Havre, MT on May 11, 1949 to Philip Russel Kessel and Linda (Ernst) Kessel. Paul, as he was called by family, was raised in Chinook, MT with his six siblings. Will was born January 9, 1940, the third-born to John and Rebecca Crasco. In his younger days, Will was known as a pretty fair saddle bronc and bull rider. Hill County Electric Cooperative (HCE) has announced that it will be mailing out capital credit checks to current and former cooperative members. HCE’s Board of Trustees has authorized a general retirement of capital credits totaling over $106,000. This general retirement is comprised of 10% of the remaining capital credit balances for 1984 and ½ of 1% of the capital credit balances for the years 1985 through 2014.
