Montana FSA May Newsletter USDA’s Farm Service Agency has announced that higher levels of coverage are being offered through the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program (NAP), a popular safety net program. Our team registered 45 total donors, collected 42 pints of blood and recruited 1 first-time donor. Our goal was 40. All of our efforts have helped boost the community blood supply and ensure hospital patients have the lifesaving blood they need. Each donation can save up to 3 lives. Robert Dennis Harrison was born May 11, 1948 in Havre. He was the 5th of 6 children born to Norris and Opal (Wolery) Harrison. Robert passed away May 6, 2019 at Sweet Nursing Home in Chinook just 5 days short of his 71st birthday. Robert's birthday was always a big deal to him and he usually wanted strawberry shortcake! Newel Kay Alcorn, 74 (Nute) passed away at his home in Great Falls on Saturday March 23rd, 2019 of natural causes. Newel was born Feb. 8, 1945 in Harlem Mt to Clark & Evelyn Alcorn, the fourth of five children. He worked for many years for the Rio Grande Railroad out of Salt Lake City UT, as a break man. Rosemary Louise Akre passed away in Seattle, Washington on April 14, 2019 from a stroke. She was born on May 17, 1930 in Turner, Montana to Fred and Dorrit (Perrin) Hickel. She graduated from Turner High School in 1948. She married Forrest John Akre and they made their home in Harlem, Montana where they raised their three children. In 1964 they moved to Seattle where Forrest worked in construction. She worked for United Airlines for 20 years. Rosemary was a member of the Catholic church. On April 26, 2019, we lost our precious family member and friend Steven James Herndon (AJ), from a complications of a major stroke. He joins his mother Mary in heaven.
