Greg Skoyen had a booth at the Blaine County Fair where he was displaying and promoting a recently designed gas-powered irrigation booster pump. The device basically increases the volume of water moving from an irrigation ditch through a gated system to a field. The superintendent for the contractor replacing the North Fork bridge and the project manager overseeing the work for the Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) said they believe the new bridge will be completed and open for traffic by the end of August. The streets were packed around the Chinook City pool, hosts of the Eastern Divisional Swim Meet this past weekend. Hundreds of RV's and campers made passage near the pool nearly impossible Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Meadowlark Elementary opened its doors to campers as well and even hosted a dance for the swimmers and their friends Saturday night. Competition was fierce in the pool but the camaraderie was evident among friends and competitors alike....

Ryder Hofeldt, eight years old in this photo, checks out a flower bed he created in his neighbor Myrla McCoy's yard last summer. Ryder, who plans to "be a farmer" often helps his neighbor in Chinook with her yard work. When he decided an area along a fence in Mryla's yard needed some landscaping, he hand-spaded the area, planted the flowers and found the ornamental edging to complete the project. Allan James Gryde of Hogeland, Montana, age 65, passed away on July 24, 2018 at Benefis Hospital in Great Falls, Montana due to complications from diabetes. Ernest Larson passed away on July 13, 2018 due to natural causes and is now in heaven, with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for eternity. Though much sadness is felt by those who knew and loved him, we now rejoice as this isn't goodbye, but until we see you again... The Chinook Lions hosted the Eastern Divisional swim meet this past weekend as the 2018 Summer Swim Season winds down. The top 12 swimmers/relays in each event advanced to the state swim meet in Conrad this weekend. A total of 383 swimmers took part in the meet, including 113 relays and 1,139 entries. The Chinook Lions had a very good weekend in the pool and will send 37 swimmers and 11 relays on to Conrad to compete in the Class AA Division. The Harlem swim team had some amazing performances...
