  • Patching Cracks

    Erik Seitsema|Aug 14, 2019

I do about 30 chin-ups at the gym several times a week. I don’t like doing chin-ups, and I couldn’t do them for many years. I’d try and try and couldn’t quite get myself up over the bar. Then, a crazy thing happened one day: I did one. After doing one, I found that doing a second one was easier. In the space of a few weeks, I jumped from none to more than a dozen. I didn’t develop some supernatural strength or find a new training program. What changed was that I figured out that I could do chin-ups. Before I did my first one, I never believed I...

  • Harlem Senior Center

If you are not one of our “regular” meal clients (meaning you eat, or get meals delivered, at least 3 or more days a week) you must call in BEFORE 10:00 am to let us know that you will be wanting a meal, whether in the Center or delivered. Likewise, if you are one of the “regulars” and you know you are not going to be able to eat, please let us know that also. Preparing way too much food is almost as bad as running out. All we ask is that you be considerate of our cooks and their planning and time schedules in preparing meals. Thank you to...

  • Chinook Senior Center

    Marlane Wenzel|Aug 14, 2019

So much to say and so little room. First, we have yarn and lots of it. It is free or if you can make a donation that would be great. If you do not have any idea of what to make we can always use potholders, dish rags, etc here at the center and we could sell them for a fund raiser. Just ideas to consider. Then, the Center will need a new director as I have posted my resignation and will be done on August 23 last day. Please talk to and find that person in your sphere to come in and apply. The position is open until filled. Stop in at the...
