The Chinook Rod and Gun Club invite the public to their 7th Annual Gun and Antique Show on September 13-15 at the Commercial Building on the Blaine County Fairgrounds. Beginning the 1st of September until the 31st of October the Harlem Food Bank will be conducting their Drive for Fund Raising for the year. We will be trying to raise enough to match the $2000.00 that the Town Pump Corporation generously offers to us. We have always been able to make the match and hope to do it again this year. The Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds are a young inexperienced team when it comes to varsity football. Head Coach Josh Werk and new Assistant Coach Jerry Racine have given the kids the opportunity to change the culture of the program at Hays/Lodge Pole High School. The Harlem Cross Country team turned in a stellar performance their first time on the course in the 2019 Cross Country season. The Wildcats were in Wolf Point running the Airport Golf Course with more than 90 athletes taking part. The Wildcats took four boys and three girls to Wolf Point with the boys all finishing in the top 25 and the girls top 11. The Hays/Lodge Pole Cross Country team has been hard at work preparing for the upcoming season. The Thunderbirds are under the direction of up and coming second year Head Coach Amy Snow. After an absence of more than 30 years, the one-mile race/walk down Havre’s Fifth Avenue immediately preceding the Festival Days Parade has been revived. Columnist's note: Writing about Grandview Cemetery, south of the Hills and north of Galata, I learned that Agnethe Forseth donated the two acres that became, for 90 years, a children's cemetery. Toni Brown Dafoe, a great granddaughter of Mrs. Forseth, recently brought me a notebook with 71 letters written by Mrs. Forseth and her two daughters.
