    In 2009, Montana Law designated the last Friday in September of each year as American Indian Heritage Day (MCA 1-1-228) for the state.     Ernest "Ernie" Glen Smith, 65, died of natural causes on September 16, 2020, at home. Ernie was born June 14, 1955, to Floyd and Stephannie Smith in Havre. He married Ruth Stuker in Chinook on June 10, 1983, and cherished their time together with family and friends, caring for their pets, camping and fishing, living in the country and watching the evening sky together. Payton was born December 12, 2000 in Havre, Montana to Leve Jones and Rachel Smiley. He graduated from Chinook High School in 2019 and started working with Uncle Casey at Northwest Security.
