Don’t allow evil to cloud your perception of God Q. I find the Bible interesting (or at least parts of it), but I don’t think we ought to follow it as a guide for our lives. After all, it’s thousands of years old, and we live in a different world today. A:Yes, we do live in a different world — and yet millions of people all over the world still look to the Bible to guide them and give them hope. They have discovered that Jesus’ words — spoken almost 2,000 years ago — are still true: “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will neve...
With the suspension of the Sugarbeet Festival, a few organizations and individuals in Chinook took matters into their own hands to create some fall diversions last weekend at the Blaine County Fairgrounds. Despite a rather gloomy start of the weather, the day turned pleasant and a decent sized crowd came to enjoy a car show, do some roping, enjoy a customer appreciation lunch and take in a drive-in movie after dark. Dan's NAPA store hosted a noon luncheon in the commercial building with sloppy...

Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read, Sept. 24 – 30, 2017 By focusing on efforts across the country to remove or restrict access to books, Banned Books Week draws national attention to the harms of censorship. The books featured during Banned Books Week have all been targeted with removal or restrictions in libraries and schools. While books have been and continue to be banned, part of the Banned Books Week celebration is the fact that, in a majority of cases, the books have remained available. This happens only thanks to the e...

Lots happening in the wonderful world of football these days. Take last weekend for instance. The Bobcats beat North Dakota 49 to 21, a blowout if there was ever a blowout to be had. Meanwhile back home in the Grizzly Nation the Griz lost to Eastern Washington 48 to 41. I got both those games wrong as did lots others. The Griz are 2 and 2 for the season. Same with the Bobcats. Meanwhile closer to home Havre lost to Glendive 36 to 26. Chinook beat Rocky Boy 50 to 0 and Harlem lost to Shelby 61 to 12. The Thunderbirds lost to CJI 56 to 12. Big...
