Just in time for homecoming and the 2023 Sugarbeet Festival, a hay sculpture turned up on September 27 just west of Alfalfa Road. Two stacked round bales feature the Sugarbeeter mascot head, black, orange, and white paint, and the message, "Go Beeters" on the base. Some twigs jut from the upper most bale to resemble a beet top. The family of Tristan Billmayer is pleased to announce the winner of the 2023 Mental Health Field Scholarship in the amount of $500. Aspyn Colby, a 2023 graduate of Chinook High School is the daughter of John and Dawn Colby. Aspyn is a Freshman at UND this Fall and plans on majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in psychology. Sawyer Loney became Chinook's Superintendent of Streets back in late July. He succeeds Jim Teel who retired after thirty-seven years with the city, most of it in the position Loney now holds. Hello From the Chinook Social Senior Center! We continue to have more & more fun here, with the Cornhole, the Billiards, the Cribbage & the Bingo. Several of our local people adventured off on the Senior Connection tour bus with Steve Edwards and his lovely wife Sherry, to Cincinnati to visit the “Replica of the Ark”. They all came back happy that they had gone and filled us in with marvelous stories. JUMP youth Group will be conducting a food drive to benefit the Chinook Food Pantry. The Food Pantry benefits anyone with a need as long as they are Blaine County residents. JUMP has been involved in a yearly food drive for well over 10 years and have collected thousands of pounds of food and household items for the pantry. The Chinook Sugarbeeter Volleyball girls were plenty busy on the court this week. Thursday night they hosted the District 2B Malta M-ettes to town in a non-conference tilt, sweeping the visitors. Friday the 'Beeters traveled to Cut Bank for a conference contest with the Wolves. Chinook played well again picking up a 3-0 win. Saturday the girls were in Fort Benton for the Longhorn mid-season tournament. The 'Beeters went 3-1 on the day with their only loss coming from the Fort Benton Longhorns....
The Lady Cats had busy week, playing Rocky Boy at home this past Monday, earning a 3-0 sweep of the Morning Stars.
