Stacey Klungland is our No Box champion at Hi-Line Dragstrip for 2023. In addition to that he was runner up in our Big Dollar Race losing to Cole Casteel from Minot, North Dakota. It’s a week when the country’s 60 million volunteers who volunteer 4.18 billion hours of service are officially recognized. Sweet Home is holding a benefit fundraiser for long time employee, Jeannie Madril, this Friday at the Eagles in Chinook. Jeannie has recently experienced some major health issue and the money raised will go to her to help with expenses. The benefit will get started at 5:30 pm at the Chinook Eagles. Dinner will be served featuring taco soup and cornbread or traveling tacos with all the fixings. The dinner will be a free-will donation. Wanda Bushman of Malta, formerly of Harlem, has begun a battle with stage 1 lobular carcinoma, a form of breast cancer. Wanda worked at the Harlem Elementary School for many years and is the office manager of the Phillips County news in Malta. She is mother of six adults, and grandmother of six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Wanda had a mammogram in June of 2023 which was an abnormal mammogram, from there a biopsy had detected the cancer. Wanda will have a lumpectomy with partial...

The All-Class State Cross Country meet was held this past Saturday at Rebecca Farms in Kalispell. 22 athletes from Blaine County took part in the State Meet, 15 boys and seven girls. Chinook was represented well with seven boys and six girls making the trip. Harlem had seven boys and one girl while the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds had one boy. The Lady Cats closed out the regular season with a win on the road and a loss at home. On Monday the Lady Cats took down the Rocky Boy Stars on the road. On Saturday in front of the hometown crowd they fell to the Poplar Indians. The Lady Cats began the week on a high note, taking down the Rocky Boy Stars on the road in straight sets.
