The Harlem City Council held its regular monthly meeting on October 13. Prior to the start of the regular meeting there were two informational presentations to the council. The Big Flat 4-H Cloverbuds trick or treated in Harlem in to collect food for the food pantry in Harlem. These little goblins wish to thank those who generously gave to their food drive on Sunday afternoon. The children gathered several large grocery bags of food. Betty Jean (Dunbar) and Albert J. Sanford celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in Billings, Montana, with a gathering of family and a very special dinner. They were married Sept. 4, 1955, at the Presbyterian Church in Chinook, Montana. He worked for Texaco Inc., (Producing and Drilling) for 33 years. The Chinook Sugarbeeters have completed the first half of their goal following a 64-18 win over the Great Falls Central Catholic Mustangs Saturday in Great Falls. The team had a stated goal of defending their Northern C crown, which they did two weeks ago when they blitzed C-J-I. Now they have completed the season undefeated recording a perfect 8-0 record. The Chinook Sugarbeeters have completed a perfect regular season following a three set win over the North Star Knights in Rudyard Saturday night. Chinook took all three sets in comfortable fashion posting 25-20, 25-15 and 25-19 set wins to complete the season sweep of the Knights. The 'Beeter have become much more aggressive at the net lately and the play of sophomore's Abby Ellison and Sierra Swank have been a big part of that. The best cross country runners in Montana converged on Great Falls this past Saturday as nearly 1,000 runners competed in the State AA, A, B and C Cross Country meet. The Harlem Wildcats qualified both a girls and a boys team and the Hays/Lodge Pole Thunderbirds qualified a boys team. All runners competed very well with the Wildcat boys earning a 15th place finish and the girls a 22nd place finish. The Thunderbird boys finished 23rd in the team standings. The NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick completion was recently held in Harlem under the supervision of Mr. Moe Denham, Harlem Elementary Physical Education teacher. The Turner American Legion held its annual Trap Shoot this past Sunday at the Turner Trap Club. The weather was perfect and a great crowd showed up to have some fun, support the Legion and take a chance at winning a turkey for their Thanksgiving dinner. Alma I. Seidel, 81, passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2015, of natural causes at Benefis Medical Center in Great Falls. Vigil services will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church. Gale Fald passed away on October 17, 2015. Gale was born on April 4, 1955 in Havre, MT. He graduated from Chinook High School and enlisted in the Army after graduation. He returned to Chinook and worked at his dad's plumbing business. He later moved to Great Falls and worked for Carps plumbing. He changed careers and followed his passion of the outdoors and worked for Big Bear Sportswear. Gale joined the Big Bear Relay for Life team where he shared his joy of cooking for the volunteers.
