The fourth Annual Turkey Trot will take place this Saturday at 9 a.m. The goal of the event is to help raise funds for the local food pantry in Chinook. Organizers put the event together four years ago as a means to help the pantry stock up on supplies to meet the demands through the winter season. Reporter's note: Charles E. Morris was a photographer in the late 1800's-early 1900's. For a time he had a studio on Indiana Street in Chinook. He was a cowboy turned self-taught photographer who set about to capture life on the open range. The Chinook sugarbeeters began the 2015 Montana Class 'C' football playoffs with a resounding 80-16 drubbing of the Culbertson/Bainville Cowboys Saturday at Hoon Field in Chinook. The 'Beeters forced five turnovers and recorded six sacks in an overwhelming defensive effort. The Chinook Sugarbeeters successfully defended their District 6C-East title in Gildford this past Thursday and Friday as the girls dropped only one set on their way to their third consecutive title. Lance Tyler Mortensen, 35, passed away October 20, 2015 at his parent's home, of natural causes. He is the son of Micheal and Yvonne Mortensen, the fifth of eight children. He was born January 20, 1980 in Silver City, New Mexico. He began his "special education" at 6 months old when his doctor noticed he was not developing at the normal pace.
