  • Bear Paw Meanderings

    Robert Lucke|Nov 9, 2016

I have eaten some strange meals with people who were drinking. I learned early on that a whole car full of whisky is not going to stop a good cook from getting a good meal on the table. It was just a matter of when. No names here to protect the innocent and guilty but one family I knew had the best cook I have ever known. Let’s just say they liked their bourbon but it did not get in the way of a great meal. I think that at their house they would have about a two hour happy hour and then feast on this great meal, mainly seafood, and then go f...

    Steve Edwards, BCJ News|Nov 9, 2016

Reporter's note: On my very first visit to Chinook, about 15 years ago, the Grande Villa drew my interest. Locals told me at the time that the building provided 'housing for senior citizens.' I was impressed that the town had such a nice looking housing facility for seniors and located in such a convenient location. In June of this year my wife and I moved into the Grande Villa, coinciding with her decision to retire as a minister and our joint decision to remain in Chinook. As tenants we began...

  • What 'cher point?

    Robert Lucke|Nov 9, 2016

These are certainly strange times. This national election, which will be over by the time you are reading these words, is for both sides the worst I can ever remember in my life. To make matters even worse, it is November 7 as I write these words and I can hear outside of my office window, someone actually mowing their lawn! So, is it any reason that the Vikings have gone crazy in their first season in their new stadium? Remember not long ago they were running four wins and no losses. Well, this last week the Chicago bears with their 2 wins...
