Montana Actors’ Theatre (MAT) is offering workshops for youth ages 12-19 in both November and December. Although the workshops will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30—5:00 p.m. at the Havre High Theatre, youth need not be a Havre Public School student to participate. Several months ago Shirley Gardipee, a former Chinookian now living in Shelby, told me about the LaTray family that once lived on the north side of Chinook. William and Jenny (Gardipee) LaTray had 18 children, nine were boys. Eight sons served in the U.S. military, four during World War II and all eight safely returned home. Richard Lee Hamilton, 88 went to join his beloved wife, Florence in Heaven on November 1, 2022. Richard 'Dick' passed peacefully at Sweet Memorial Nursing Home. Dick was born December 8, 1933, to Lyle and Lillian (Miller) Hamilton Nace in Havre, MT. He grew up in Hogeland, MT for the most part. This past Halloween, Project Pumpkin was unveiled in Chinook at Brickcent$ on Indiana Street. Owner of Brickcent$, Brandon Nissen had hoped to also build something with a "Strange" theme, but he only had five Trick-or-Treaters, so the project didn't take off as he intended. Completed on October 27, Nissen constructed a Sugarbeeter mascot that measures approximately 15 inches wide by 24 inches tall. The Chinook Sugarbeeters are headed back to the Montana State Class C Volleyball Tournament for the first time since 2016. The 'Beeters punched their ticket to the state tournament following an outstanding performance at the Northern C Divisional.
