On Friday afternoon, October 23, the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home received notice of their first positive Covid-19 test. The situation grew expeditiously with numbers of positive tests rising exponentially. As of press time, 15 staff members have tested positive and 21 residents in addition to four resident Covid-19 deaths. Duane Klindworth was a visitor at the Wallace Beck home on Friday afternoon. Susan Billmayer attended a church call committee meeting on Wednesday evening in Turner. Harlan Krass passed away in the early morning, Tuesday, Nov. 3. A family graveside service was held on Sunday morning, Nov. 8 at the Wing Cemetery. October was a challenging month for the staff and residents at Sweet Memorial Nursing Home as they learned that despite their best efforts, COVID has a presence in the Home. We're a couple weeks into the 2020 Big Game Hunting season and local youth are continuing to bring home the big Bucks. Meadowlark Elementary School had reasons to celebrate at the end of October when representatives from Torgerson's delivered pumpkins to the school for the first graders. Meadowlark Elementary School celebrated last week when the results were in for the school fundraiser. On November 5, three kindergarten students received a Student Shout Out for raising the most funds in the Meadowlark Touchless Fundraiser. Well, the fall sports schedule is behind us. The Harlem Wildcat Volleyball team and the Chinook Volleyball and Football teams were able to complete their seasons.
