No one is exactly sure what year the first Community Thanksgiving Dinner was held in Chinook, but most agree it was in the 1980’s. First held in the Presbyterian Church, the event later moved to the Chinook Senior Center when the present facility was completed. Organizers of the most recent edition of the community dinner say the number of diners has stayed fairly consistent and financial support has remained generous and adequate. The race for Blaine County Sheriff was probably the most campaigned locally contest race as both candidates held multiple public events, ran radio and print ads and campaigned door to door all across Blaine County in hopes of replacing Glenn Huestis, who is retiring after a long run as Sheriff. Great turnout for the Red Cross Blood Drive on Tuesday November 6th. We had 47 donors present on a goal of 40 with only 2 deferrals. Great Job Chinook. We had two first time donors, Kendra McMaster and Sally Halingstad. The canteen was hosted by the St Gabriel’s PCCW those helping out in the kitchen were Patty Hall, Ben Hall, Evelyn Schubert and Ken Schubert. In order to comply with FSA program eligibility requirements, all producers, including livestock producers, are encouraged to visit their local FSA office to file an accurate crop certification report by the applicable deadline. Montana Farm Service Agency (FSA) reminds producers that the deadline to apply for assistance under the 2017 Wildfires and Hurricanes Indemnity Program (2017 WHIP) is Nov. 16, 2018.
