Celebrations were held all over Blaine County on Veterans Day, Friday, November 11. Above these Veterans gathered in Turner at the school for a ceremony with the students. Dr. Jessica Robb, DVM, has joined Drs. Baxter and Aiton at the Blaine County Veterinary Clinic. Robb started with the local practice in early June then took maternity leave for birth of her first child, Braxton. She resumed duties at the clinic in mid-October. She and her husband, Will, live in the Cleveland area. Robb grew up in McCook, Nebraska, a town of about 8,000 residents, in the southcentral part of the state. Blaine Counties lone contested race was for Clerk of District Court where Democrat Tami Mitchell received 1,690 votes to win over Republican Pauley Miller who received 1,019 votes. Mitchell will take over as Clerk of Court after being Sworn-in in January. She will replace Kay Johnson who had held the position for the past 32 years. David Ramberg, 69, of Spearfish, South Dakota died unexpectedly on November 9, 2016. A memorial service was held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Fidler-Isburg Funeral Chapel in Spearfish. Beulah Maxine (Miller) Skoyen, passed away October 30, 2016, at Sweet Memorial Nursing Home with her family by her side. She was 92. Beulah was born February 4, 1924, in Black Coulee, Montana (south of Malta, Montana) to Paul and Mabel (Walden) Miller. She was the second oldest of five children. Her family eventually settled in the Chinook area where Beulah graduated high school in 1942. One summer I ended up with Ace Powell’s Franklin stove and some lucky cabin owner in the Bear Paws still has it in his or her cabin. Ace Powell had been commissioned by the Havre Federal Savings and Loan to paint some pictures with scenery of the Bear Paws and the Missouri Breaks. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4620 hosted a Veterans Day celebration in the Chinook High School auditorium. The event was at 11 o'clock on the 11th day of the 11th month. Now that the Volleyball season is complete with State champions being crowned this past weekend and the football season over for teams from the Northern B post season recognition is finding several local athletes. The Chinook Sugarbeeter volleyball team completed a stellar season on the court finishing third at the Northern C Divisional.
