    On Thursday, November 18, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints received a shipment of food from Latter-Day Saint Charities delivered by Deseret Transportation. Wilma Melville, who is a member of the Mormon Church in Chinook, put together a crew to receive and unload the truck with its half a load of food.     Francis (Frances) Miller Ewing passed away on November 16, 2021 at the Sweet Memorial Nursing Home with family at her side. Frances was born at Black Coulee in Malta, MT on August 24, 1922, the oldest of five children born to Paul and Mabel Miller. She spent her early years in Malta before moving to the family farm west of Chinook. Frances graduated from Chinook High School in 1942.     Arlene F. Fisher Ophus, 82, passed away at Northern Montana Hospital on Nov. 17, 2021, after seeing all her children earlier that day. She was born to Frank and Ethel Fisher in Fort Benton. Arlene attended school at Lone Tree School and Big Sandy High School and married Lester R. Ophus on October 10, 1955. Together they had seven children.     Two Chinook residents, Bonnie Ortner and Ben Hall will be performing in the Montana Actor’s Theater (MAT) production of “A Christmas Carol” when it opens on December 16. MAT will present this classic Charles Dickens’ tale using Bunraku puppets.     The American Red Cross held it's community blood drive in Chinook on Tuesday November 9th at Waller Hall. Thanks to all of our donors, we collected 50 units on a goal of 47. We had two first time donors, Stepahnie Grimes and Anna Morrow.
