    The Chinook Sugarbeeters completed a perfect 12-0 season and captured the 2015 Montana Class 'C' Eight-man Football State Championship in the process following a 44-20 win over the previously unbeaten Arlee Scarlet Warriors.   • Initial results of housing survey for Harlem and Chinook presented

    A few months ago the cities of Harlem, Chinook and Malta entered into an agreement to participate in a study of housing needs in the respective towns. According to Eryn Nissen, with Bear Paw Development, the study was awarded to the towns through a state grant with matching funds provided by Opportunity Link, a Havre-based agency that helps communities in an eleven county region deal with poverty issues.   • Blaine County Wildlife Museum on track to complete last major exhibit

    With funding from a recent grant awarded by the state Office of Tourism's Montana Main Street Project, the Blaine County Wildlife Museum will soon complete its Foothills Exhibit.   • North side loading source closed for bulk water users

    With the freezing weather the Chinook bulk water location at the northeast corner of 3rd Street North and Indiana is closed. The location was installed while outside construction was limiting access to the regular source at the water plant. John Blankenship, Superintendent of the Water Treatment Plant, said, “Regular access at the plant is now returned.” He noted haulers would be able to make the loop around the plant rather than having to back up and turn around to exit the plant.     Drivers planning to access the border from central or northeast Montana will soon have fewer 24 hour crossing choices. Beginning December 27 the Port of Raymond will reduce its hours from round the clock to a new opening time of 8am each day. The Port of Raymond is north of Plentywood in the northeast corner of Montana.     The upgrade to the Water Treatment Plant in Chinook involves a lot of different skills and procedures to complete the project. A recent installation required calling in divers who specialize in underwater work.     Clint Greytak became the sole proprietor of Bear Paw Realty in July, 2015 after buying out the other co-owners. He recently changed the name of the real estate company to Greytak Realty. The offices will still be located at 221 Indiana in Chinook, accessed through the “Blaine County Journal” office. Greytak first started with the local real estate business a few years ago.     On November 15 the Big Flat Catholic youth traveled the Big Flat collecting food for the Harlem Food Bank. With monetary donations received from some community members they were able to shop for nonperishable food items and turkeys before they delivered to the food bank.
