  • US 2 Construction Paused for Winter

    BLAINE COUNTY, Mont.: The Montana Department of Transportation (MDT) and its contractor, Wickens Construction, have paused the project to reconstruct a portion of US Highway 2 (US 2) between Zurich and Harlem for the winter. This project will widen a 7-mile stretch of US 2 between the intersections with Eight Mile Road, 4 miles east of Zurich, and Thirty Mile Road, just west of Harlem. It will include 12-foot travel lanes and 8-foot shoulders, adding 2 miles of passing lanes in both directions....

    A sea of blue jackets inundated the campus of Montana State University-Bozeman (MSU) from November 14-16. With 1,900 registered attendees, the university hosted high school and middle school students from across the state for the annual Montana FFA Ag Expo. Members from both Chinook High School (CHS) and Turner Public School (TPS) competed in FFA activities, such as quiz bowls and livestock judging.     Don Ray Durocher, 86, passed away peacefully in Benefis Hospital in Great Falls on Nov. 17, 2024, with family by his side. Don was born in Malta, MT on March 2, 1938 to Adrian and Ruby (Wolden) Durocher. He was 1 of 14 children born to them. Don attended school in Malta and at the age of 17, joined the Navy, where he served for 4 years. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Cut Bank, where he worked in the oil fields.
