    The Indian National Finals Rodeo, Inc. (INFR) held its 44th championship event the end of October in Las Vegas. At the latest Finals Eddie Hawley and his team roping partner, Myles John, won their second consecutive world title. No stranger to this international competition, it was Eddie's thirteenth time to qualify to compete at the INFR and his fourth time to win a team roping championship.   • Blaine County Fair Dates Are Set for August

    The Blaine County Fair will no longer compete with nor complement the Fourth of July celebrations of Blaine County citizens in 2020. To make the dates more 4-H friendly and to accommodate the PRCA rodeo schedule, the dates of the fair will be August 12-16.   • Sweet Park Board Accepts Additional Funding

    The Sweet Park Board announced last week that they have nearly reached their funding goal and should be able to purchase and install new playground equipment at the Sweet Park this summer if a few more dollars trickle in to the Playground Equipment Fund. With a sizable donation from the Davies Family Endowment Fund of the Montana Community Foundation, the Park Board is seeing the finish line.     Harold "Kent" Lybeck, 66, of Chinook, MT passed away at Peace Hospice on November 23, 2019 after an unexpected, yet short, battle with cancer. A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 1 pm at the American Lutheran Church in Chinook with burial at Kuper Memorial Cemetery.     Our beloved Louella Fox Stiffarm, whose Indian name was "Big Mountain Woman", 71, peacefully went to be with the angels on November 24, 2019. Lou was born to George and Ella (Bradley) Fox, Sr. on January 4, 1948, in Fort Belknap, MT. She was raised in Hays, MT and graduated from St. Paul Mission High School in 1967.     The 35th Montana Science Olympiad was held on Tuesday, November 26 in the Strand Union Building and other locations across Montana State University-Bozeman's campus. Several students formed teams to represent Chinook School District at what is billed as Montana's premier STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) competition for youth.     The Harlem Lady Cats were spectacular a season ago. They captured the District 2B conference championship, edging out the Wolf Point Wolves for the regular season title. The wolves returned the favor at the District 2B Tournament, leaving the Lady Cats with a second place finish.
