Ginger Hansen recently became Director of the Chinook Senior Center. Last week she helped facilitate the first "international meal" at the Center. She explained, "I wanted to shake things up a bit with some new dishes and different taste experiences for our diners." The first international menu was Greek, a salute to Mary Pyette who is a regular at the Center for meals and activities. Mary's never bashful about sharing her Greek heritage from language to the baklava she brings regularly to share...
Alert readers may recall my wife, Sherry, and I lived in Whitlash (north of Chester in the Sweet Grass Hills) while she served as pastor of the Presbyterian Church there. We lived in Whitlash from December, 2018 to July, 2020. All during that time, even before moving to the Hills, I heard people talk about the Devil's Chimney. The site is one of the most discussed places in the Hills (right up there with the Bears Den) and many locals as well as visitors from foreign countries have explored the...

It's been said that northern states celebrate summer better than its southern counterparts. Long winters and cool springs make Northerners antsy to get the grill out and start cooking. For many, school gets out just before Memorial Day and immediately the family heads out on a little getaway. Families and friends will continue to find reasons to 'getaway' for the weekend, heading out as early Friday afternoon as they can and coming back as late Sunday afternoon. Locally, campers will often head...
The Fourth of July is one of the most popular holidays by far and for many the opportunity to get together and celebrate with good food, friends and an adult beverage or two is a no brainer. While Christmas, Thanksgiving and Easter bring families and friends together they lack the carefree all-in attitude of a barbecue in the summer heat. In addition, July is National Grilling Month. The population on the Hi-line and North Central Montana is small compared to the rest of the world but it would be fair to say we would hold our own when it comes...
