The physical education classes at Meadowlark Elementary School in Chinook celebrated the completion of a unit on heart health with a Pie in the Face Gathering on February 18. Students who collected the most donations for their grade level in the Kids Heart Challenge, a program of the American Heart Association, were recognized at this Gathering and granted the privilege of throwing a pie at a school official. Beginning in February, MAT will be offering monthly workshops for middle and high school aged youth. Each month will focus on a different theatre aspect, and workshops will be led by various MAT staff and volunteers. On Saturday, December 19, the Montana Actors' Theater (MAT) showcased a free live stream of their 24-Hour Play Festival as a holiday gift to the community. Alert readers may recall a story that ran in the October 7, 2020 issue of the "Journal" about some unusual "rock writings." On the family ranch south of Chinook, Mark Burkhartsmeyer found a hilltop with several sets of initials fashioned with random stones.
