The Blaine County 4H Teen Leader Club includes members from all of the local clubs. The group is preparing to host their Annual Valentine Day Dinner and Dance This Sunday, February 12th. The event takes place at the Blaine County Fairgrounds in the Commercial Building. Dinner is being served from 4-6 p.m. with Spaghetti as the main course. The 38th annual local production by Missoula Children's Theatre (MCT) did not disappoint this past Saturday afternoon. The stars were 50+ students who auditioned on Monday, after school, began practices that evening and presented two performances just five days later at CHS auditorium. MCT actor/directors have been providing the opportunity for kids to perform before hometown audiences for 40+ years. When I was in college I had two good friends who were in college as well. One was my cousin Butch (James Lucke) and one was a high school mate by the name of Jim Dullenty. Jim went off to Journalism School at the University of Montana and Butch and I stayed home and attended Northern. We spent many weekends visiting Jim in Missoula. The students at Turner Public School had a blast last week during recess prior to the warmer temps and winds that melted a good share of the snow. But, prior to that, the kiddos had a blast digging and rolling snow across the playground. You can bet, where there's snow to be sculpted, there's kids. That's just a given. The 2016-2017 Homecoming was held this past weekend at the Tornado gymnasium. Festivities were held all week long with activities ranging from Pajama Day, Retro Day, Hawaiian Day and Green and White Day. Chinook High School is hosting the State B-C Speech & Drama tournament January 27-28. The two day tournament will be held on the campus of MSU-Northern. Over 350 student competitors from as many as 60 schools are expected to attend. Competition rounds will be held Friday afternoon beginning at 1:30 p.m., and all day Saturday. Local children will take to the stage this Saturday for the annual Missoula Children's Theatre's (MCT) production. This year's play is "Rapunzel."
