Last week we had a volcano theme. Kelsey read a book about Pompeii, showed the kids coins and pumice from Pompeii and then each table erupted their own volcanoes. linor Spihowa was born in Poland in February 1874. She then ventured to Montana with her aunt when she was just fourteen. She stayed with her brother Stanley in Zurich for a while. Elinor later went to work at the St. Pauls Mission in Hays assisting the Sisters at the boarding school. Reporter's note: Last summer I wrote a story about the World War II-era camps in Harlem and Chinook that temporarily housed German POWs while the prisoners worked the sugar beets. Several readers told me, "You should write about the Japanese detention camp that was in Chinook during the war. That's how the Matsuoka family ended up in Chinook after World War II." I had a mess of shrimp in my freezer that needed to be cooked. So, I got out my recipe for Alfredo Sauce with Shrimp. I must say that this recipe that I found several years ago on the internet is so very simple and probably one of the best Alfredo sauces you will ever eat. First you need about two pound of U 15 shrimp. That will give you 30 shrimp to peel, devein and butterfly. Snow in the month of April, or even May isn't uncommon but the storm that passed through Sunday and Monday was a bit unique.
