As the holiday season wraps up, we would like to thank everyone who stopped in and made the Museum part of their holiday shopping. We have enjoyed seeing everyone and are happy to provide a bookstore for the community. I would like to remind everyone that our “Dandy Cowboy” exhibit is still on display! We would also encourage you to share your Rodeo stories while you’re here. Remin...

    Austin Haney|Dec 13, 2023

December is shaping up to be a great month over here at the museum! On Wednesday December 6th we put on a “parfleche workshop” for 28 area kids in conjunction with the wonderful folks over at the Blaine County Library. The parfleche workshop was an interactive program where kids were able to learn about the history and importance of parfleche: a versatile and beautiful painted rawhide container used by many Indigenous Peoples. At the conclusion of a short talk and slideshow, kids were given their own pieces of actual rawhide and were able to...

Hello from the Chinook Social Senior Center! We are very busy around here, preparing for Christmas & the many fun activities here at our wonderful Center! It seems the same each year! Pretty soon, we run out of days! We’ll get there, before Christmas does!! I certainly hope that you were some of the people who life has dealt a “grief journey” to that came & helped us hang Cardinals & Candles in memory of those that we have loved & miss. It seems that the holidays are far more poignant to those of us with fractured hearts. Yet, we know that...

  • Harlem ALC Works to Help Those In Need

    Dec 13, 2023

For the past year folks at the Harlem ALC have been working on projects that will make life a little easier for someone, we don't know who, but there are many around the world who need our gifts and prayers. In the process of moving, Audrey Parnell found that her quilt stash was too much to deal with, and donated it to the World Relief quilters at the Lutheran Church. From those wonderful fabrics, and from our own stashes, 28 quilts were created. These quilts are distributed, one to a family,...

I understand that our Community Thanksgiving Dinner, prepared lovingly, by those who spend the weeks & days ahead of time planning this, was very successful. I hope that you chose to dine in. That is what makes it special. Friendship &...

  • Do A Good Deed --- Hello God, it's me, Mara

    Nov 1, 2023

You know Lord, it seems like it’s best to do A GOOD DEED, right? Three gals were busy gabbing as they cleaned up a kitchen and dining room. ‘Gayle’ was busy chatting when several kids from the other room popped in. “We heard you talking about doing good deeds,” Jenny said. “We remember last year when Mrs. K. was our Sunday School teacher. If some of us were fussing, she’d say – ‘SHH. Do you not – ‘know that you are fearfully and wonderfully made’? Maybe made to do a good deed? That’s from Psalm 139:14,’ “she’d say. We were then quiet – think...
