  • Hogeland Happenings

    Jane Krass|Apr 28, 2021

It’s a dreary day again here on the Big Flat. We have received a small amount of rain and a little snow that melted as it hit the ground. We could use a good soaking rain to give the crops a boost to grow. Maybe it will come yet. Lets hope so. The Senior Class returned Saturday evening from their Senior Trip to Coeur d’Alene, ID where they toured and did variety of things, and then on to Fairmont Hot Springs for their last days of the trip. They had good weather and had a good time. Duane Klindworth visited Tuesday morning at the Wallace Bec...

The weather just does whatever it wants to do. Spits snow and rain on us then turns really cold and windy, then it warms up and is as beautiful as can be, and ten minutes later does it all over again. FYI: Starting April 24th we need to remember to start dialing out the whole telephone number, even if it’s just across the street. So to call the senior center after the 23rd you would dial 406-357-2648 to contact us. So please remember to start with the 406 when you dial a call in town, just like you would in state. This will be the way of it b...

Well the weather sure turned on us again. Snow, sleet, rain… it just can’t seem to decide what it wants to do. We need the moisture desperately if we are going to get through this year without fires popping up all over the state, but I wish it would just pick one and not give us all three. The weather sure seems to be fickle about what it wants to do, snow one minute and the sun shining the next, but the wind always seems to be blowing in one direction or the other. What we really need is some moisture in the ground; it is going to be a really dry summer if it doesn’t start raining on us. I still have not heard about when a nurse will be available for a foot clinic, but as soon as I do I will let you know. FYI: Starting April 24th we need to remember to start dialing out the whole telephone number, even if it’s just across the...

  • It must be Spring - Hello God, it's me, Mara

    Apr 7, 2021

You know, Lord, as the days simply seem to zip on by, glancing out, we notice that it is almost Spring; the March winds are blowing less, cattle are resting after feeding, birds swoop here and there and we can see many Babies all around, almost anywhere one looks. We’ve seen: foals, calves, lambs, chicks, kids and kits and April’s just around the corner. From “God’s Calendar” we read: “April is a gentle maiden with eyes sky blue, she’s ‘dressed’ in a green kirtle (dress) braided with flowers. She has smiling lips, and her smile is warm, th...

  • Blaine County Beacon: Necessity Is the Mother of Entrepreneurship

    Donna Miller|Mar 31, 2021

Although most entrepreneurs start businesses out of opportunity, not necessity, the opposite was true for Mandy Harbolt. She was motivated to design and develop Garnet Mountain Boutique because she just couldn't consistently find clothing that suited her. Then, when COVID hit, stores that she loved were going out of business at alarming rates. Many of these brick-and-mortar stores (physical locations) are still suffering.
