This year was a bit of a challenge for gardening on the Big Flat due to the shortage of rain showers. But, persistence wins the whoppers award for a few gardeners in the area. In February of 2021, Becky Petrick, a 1992 graduate of Chinook High School, opened a bookstore in a 109 year old home. Many of Butte's long-time residents will recognize the address of The Corner Bookstore at 1877 Harrison Avenue as the Mullen house, one of Butte's historic homes. Petrick explained that this house, which remained a family residence until 1996, was built in 1912 by the Mullen family. The Chinook High School Class of 1971 held its fifty-year class reunion over the weekend of July 16-19 in Bigfork, Montana. Among the activities was a fundraising challenge to benefit the Friends of the Pool and Park Foundation.
